Banríon Mhúscraí
The Queen of MúscraíBanríon Mhúscraí - The Queen of Múscraí
Researched and created during her time as Artist in Residence at Ionad Cultúrtha an Dochtúir Ó Loinsigh in Baile Mhúirne, this powerful new work draws on the rich song and storytelling traditions of Múscraí, centred on the life and legacy of Bess Cronin, one of Ireland’s great tradition bearers.
Singer, folklorist and storyteller Lisa Lambe brings this remarkable world vividly to life through song, story and archive, weaving together original field recordings, a bespoke projected shadow animation of Bess by Emma Fisher & Beyond the Bark, and a rich live score performed with acclaimed Irish musicians Cormac de Barra (Clannad) and Kevin Corcoran (Villagers, Gavin Friday) on harp and piano.
Running time: 85/90 minutes no interval , this immersive and beautifully crafted production has already been met with warm praise from audiences, offering a moving, atmospheric and deeply resonant encounter with one of Ireland’s most extraordinary voices. Performed in English & Irish.
